Rob 'Pigsy' Spencer hits the studio with 'That Rock Guy' - lays down bass tracks for
Following interest from two record companies in the U.S. and Europe, 'That Rock Guy' has hit the studio to record a demo track with Rob 'Pigsy' Spencer laying down some thunder groove bass lines. An icon of the Australian rock scene, 'Pigsy' has a plethora of recording and touring experience behind him and is determined to lay it on the line on the new demo, titled 'Through The Night'.
So how did it all come together?
"I met Rob when we played together in the Alan Barnes Band. Rob had done a stack of writing and he was the musical director of the project. The Alan Barnes Band ended up opening for Bon Jovi across Australia, and we headed over to Sydney after that on a tour to support the single. We worked on and off together on various projects after that, and he enlisted me to work the XL album. That was a killer album, mixed and produced by Andy Shanahan from Roxus, so it was awesome working with guys that had gold records on their walls"

So it's a one song project for now?
"It was unexpected to be honest. I uploaded a track that received some interest from the industry, and all of a sudden I got a call from by Erik Wiss from WMP in Sweden. I mean, this guy just mixed and produced the new Cruzh album and they're signed to Frontier with bands like Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Heart, Toto, Mr. Big, Sammy Hagar, Stryper, Richie Blackmore, Foreigner ... I mean the list goes on and on. So to have the opportunity to work with Rob on bass and Erik mixing the track, I feel very fortunate"
What's the timeline for release?
"Well, we're tracking as we speak and it's sounding great so far. I mean we've hit the studio and we're setting the place on fire. To work with guys with the musical caliber of Rob and Erik is inspiring, and makes the hard work all worthwhile. The mastering is booked for early October, so we're looking at a completion date around mid-October. Stay tuned!"
